welcome in!

who am i?

more pictures and little morsels of information about me coming soon.

hi! my name is anna. i'm a secondary social studies teacher education and political science student living in arkansas--so, some say i'm fighting a losing battle on both fronts. noble, but not really positioned to gain any success in my professional life. my days are mostly spent writing papers, making low fodmap meal plans, and desperately trying to stay informed while ignoring the shitshow that is the american news cycle.

my studies are largely focused on how students learn about the world and being a citizen--you can find more about that on my thesis page. i eventually want to be a civics teacher and go into education policy. for all my time living abroad as an american, i found a strange sort of beauty in the way american democracy unfolded. yes, it's awful and bloody and engineered solely for the benefit of straight cis white male anglosaxon protestant property owners--but it doesn't have to be. that's why i'm populating my run for office? page for anybody who wants some more information on affecting lasting change in their community.

but that's enough about politics and academia. i also like to knit! i'm on ravelry as annaisvvtired if you'd like to see my fav projects and patterns as i work through them. i'll be posting finished products on my knitting page though. i also like to cook, though i have been medically banished from using garlic or onion (among other frustrating ingredients) so you can find my fav recipes i've found through the years, as well as some workarounds for fav ingredients. there's also a little guide if you think you might want to try the low fodmap diet. it's annoying, but it works if you have mystery GI weirdness

i would be childless in that my little brother would go back to live with my parents
